Bright start that faded off and we had no cutting edge after that howler! Drop Green, i've never liked him, not just saying it now i never believed he was good enough to be in the England setup. Rather have Robinson. I'd bring in Hart now like but everyone keeps saying he's a rookie. Well if your scared of using him then why's he in the 23 man squad???

Wright Phillips instead of Joe Cole? Couldn't understand that one when Cole has had experience playing in that role for England before.

I hope Roo can get involved more in future, we didn't supply him that well but he didn't seem to have the 1st touch we're used to seeing from him.

I never expected it to be easy though as USA are no pushovers, but you have to be beating these teams if you want to go anywhere in the hardest football comp in the world.

If we score three goals in the first 10min of any match we could go far trouble is after that first 10min we sit back and it all goes to a tin of rat **** 1-0 up just leaves it too open Best player Johnson by far

In my opinion Heskey was probably my man of the match.

Rooney wasn't in the game atall, neither Lampard. Green was always my 3rd choice keeper, James 1st but with him carrying a knock Hart should have been in there.

Other than that I think we outplayed them and created some good chances from Lennon and SWP. Defence looked a bit ropey from set peices. All in all a fairly good performance for the first game of the tournament. Sick of hearing people slagging them off already. USA aren't exactly a wore-torn ---- country with no decent players.

As the commentator pointed out watching England is usually a painful affair .

We have a history of not doing that great in the first 2 matches !

Johnson best man on the pitch, can see why Heskey is in . Lennon looked ineffectual to me and Wright

Phillips has not got the final delivery probably why Chelsea let him go, looks flash but no end product.

Rob Green has made History now he will always be remembered !

Thought Gerrard had a great game, seemed to be everywhere. Heskey did well for 45 mins, Johnson was lively, the rest were anonymous.

As a team pretty poor I thought, USA were only average too. A big team would have put us to the sword last night.

Heskey did not play bad he is just not a finisher the chance he had last night one on one with keeper, give that chance to defoe or rooney and it would have being in the back of the net. Lennon looked quite lively

Must admit the second thing that dawned on me were that USA were a pretty good match.

I was expecting the joke team of 16 years ago and to be fair they were not that bad .

Landon Donavon looked pretty good and in my opinion always looked a threat, maybe major league soccer is

not the joke that the critics like to portray ?

I think that england played well they had a better start more positive. In football things happen and what Green did was a freak moment just put it behind and take the positives out of the game. If the main players like Roony and lampard ect did not start firing on first game imagine if england we all got behind them and stayed positive sadely the only nation that looks at the mistakes made and then put a negative seed in the minds of the player keeper makes a howler so wot you move on what england need to do is what brazil do walk on and say to that we are better than any team and play the fast game like they did first 20 mins.

This england side could be feared if they just had the same belief as the people that fear them on the pitch!!
come on englaaaaand!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i think roony will get better and better the next game is a game that they have to build there confidence and hopefully win and media and rest of supporters need to get behind them so they all play like lions and go all the way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Only 4 of there players actually play in the MLS.

At the end of the day they're the 14th ranked side in the world so they are classed as a good team. I thought they didn't really have much of a sniff last night in front of goal they were good from set peices but we knew that before the game.

Algeria and Slovenia and really if we don't beat them then we can moan as much as we like because really they are shocking.
