I know this is something we all come across and in the past when I have needed to enlarge downlight holes, I've used a small plasterboard cutter and even a file. I have about 10 downlight holes to enlarge on an upcoming job so wondered if there is an easier way?

It would be perfect for that exact reason, it's fully adjustable, if he has a 50mm hole and needs it to 60mm then you would just enlarge the cutter job done hassle free.

Still think my methods best :)

Edit; going the other way, don't buy those concealer converting plates, the likes of JCC make. Absolute pants IMO.

I would say yours was the opposite of right lol, I have used it and it can be done, but it can still mark the plasterboard if not done correctly.........if you use MY method you'll get a perfect hole in the centre with no hassles lol ;-)

i fitted 6 the other week, converted 60watt tungsten reflector lamps (in 140mm holes) to GU10 LEDs. saved the customer ÂŁ300 which it would have cost him to have the holes filled and the ceiling skimmed.

They cost the price of a luminaire. Could not get them to work, so moved the new light to one side, bit of plasterboard, bit of making good, bit of paint, jobs a good en.

PS If anyone wants some converter plates, I have some to junk.
