Entering different field

Hello all. I am a fully qualified jib spark. I am looking to go into the FMCG field/manufacturing.

I want to do something more complex rather then just putting up ladder rack and tray.

How can i go into things like variable speed motors. Conveyor belts. PLCs etc.

Whats the best way to get in.

That's the job I do now. You need to gen up and have experience on PLC. Virtually lie and say you do then watch you tube videos on how they work and how ladder logic sets it all up. There loads of different systems but use the same idea. Every interview I've ever heard of they want yo know your motor knowledge so how are motors connected. Star delta online slip stator resister etc. Then the main thing is your fault finding technique. Get yourself some schematics and plan how you would fault find with problems. Where about are you located as West mids area funnily enough is screaming for blokes.

Maintenance jobs will definitely get you in amongst vfd 's, plc's and all the control stuff. There's definitely loads to learn and keep you busy .

Fire off your c.v to as many plants you can and see what happens .
A good thing to get on your c. v.

I was thinking of blagging it and just faking it till i make it. How did you find it ? Do you enjoy this type of work ? Much more technical and you can actually call yourself a sparks lol

It can be very same old same old. You learn which equipment fails and your never ending preventative maintenance can bore the hell out of you. But when an active fault happens and you have 20 bosses all finding out why their losing money and you stroll up on horse back and bitch whip them away. That is when you learn to blag as you have no clue of what to do. Best thing is you will do everything so your mechanical knowledge will increase. You get involved in welding hydraulics and pneumatic so doing every job in your own house becomes ways easier too. PLC are usually reserved for a control group so you will normally only deal with the basics anyway but you need to now the understanding of them. You can do short PLC course for a few hundred quid where you programme a step 7 and get an accredited award lv2. My back ground is aircraft engineer but the sparks who I work with found it easy enough to adapt to new things as well as anyone else. It's all down to attitude and character

Skilled trades. Electrical maintenance. Maintenance . Field service engineer.
