Unfortunately, it won't be us he obeys, it will be whoever is employing him!! He is not in any position to argue with his employers, he will be ''Gone'' and another electrician from among thousands, will be readily recruited to take his place. Who Will obey this employer...

Yes well at the end of the day it was his questions we were replying to, if he has the sense to say no then all the better if not then that's down to him. The advice we gave him was the most appropriate for his situation, if his employers find someone else to do the job then so be it. At least none of us will have provided any help in the matter & can have clear consciences.

Agree, it's just that it's not always as straight forward as it should be!! ...lol!! You will probably have those above him, being just as niaeve about the relevant Hazardous codes they should be working too as the OP...

Appologies for the snappy reply 54, been a bad day / night & i'm feeling a bit uptight.

Merry Christmas:christmastree1::santa3:

Wow.! I thought It was over but you people still are commenting on my post it is a good idea.
Well I am not working anywhere in the middle east but in Pakistan, my own country.
Here in our country there are no institutions training people for Hazardous areas, If there are I totally don't know about it.
but I think with the help of different ideas and common sense someone may do this job, and referencing to the manufacture manuals, brochures regarding Hazardous area classifications and NFPA 70 & 70E code.
But as you all seniors said I am not going to do this job, even having expertise in electrical systems.
I would request you to please let me know about the trainings of EEx installation systems and hazardous installations, online.

To be honest I don't think there are any online training programs in Explosion proof systems, it would be pretty pointless if there were. How would anybody be able to assess your Competence to carry out work on a system ? you may be able to cover theory but they'd never be able to assess your practical abilities to say make off a Cable end or fit Explosion proof seals correctly for example.

There are some things where there is no substitute for Good solid practical training under expert guidance & i'm afraid this is 1 of them.

Good luck to you.

Another world out there,

My dad used to live in Bahrain in the 90's.

There .... was no crime. Because, if you commited rape, you were castrated, if you stole, your hand was removed.

A theif made the front page of the rag there when we went for a trip because someone stealing something was BIG news !

Not sure if I agree or not but I like the lack of crime thing.

I can be sure that there was in fact crime. Just not among the working classes :D

Can someone suggest a good college or similar that the OP could have a nice holiday to for a few months to learn about Ex systems?

I have...once he has shown a level of competence...i.e. NVQ level 3, thats the entry requirements.

The best place to learn about Ex systems is the Safety in Mines Research Establishment. It’s great in that they can show you what happens if you get something wrong. Some of the explosions are impressive, seeing the aftermath of a failure is salutatory. It was one of the best courses I’ve been on, to see an explosion caused by faulty / badly installed equipment rams the point home!

I have a Diploma of Associate Engineer of three years sir.
I have done a One years vocational training too.
What ill be the requirements of fulfilling the NVQ Level 3, as I am an outsider from UK.

hhhunzai: If you want to find an ATEX training course all you need do is punch those words into Google & a lot of relevant information comes up. If you don't mind me asking, what sort of Electrical work do you normally do ? Also don't forget that we work to British Standards whereas you appear to work to the American NEC codes of practice & they are totally different things.
