Hi all,

Need to pick your brains, if I can.

Doing a CU change - New Wylex dual RCD for an old 4-way rewirable.

Existing CU has a ring final, lighting, cooker and shower - so 5 x T&E entering CU.

The new CU is being fitted approx 0.5 meters away from the old one - and the cables won't reach:)

What's the best (neatest) way of extending the circuits to the new CU - I want to use this job for

my assessment.

I was thinking of an adaptable/junction box, situated where the old CU is sitting now, but this

would have to have at least 15 way available to extend each T&E.

Any ideas gratefully received.

Cheers

just a thought, but if you are going to put an adaptable box where the old CU was then why move the position of it?
and isnt a dual rcd board a bit OTT for 5 circuits?

Hi mate,

I knew someone would ask these questions:)

At the moment the board is stuck up the back of an understairs cupboard - really awkward to access, so moving it onto side wall.

Dual RCD is being fitted because this is only stage one of job.

After the CU change there is a kitchen extension to wire (ring, lighting and outside power point), so these new circuits will be getting added to the CU.:)

Cheers

i`ve done similar on a job in east london for the BMS was easier to run a muticore from the panel through the building and up to the roof, where we marshalboxed it using an adaptable box and din rail connections, then run the various beldons out around the plant
