Hi guys & girls

Installing a new consumer unit and doing a partial rewire.

I have found that a couple of the existing earths are to short to reach the correct number on the earthing terminal, can I use a push fit connector like the wago type inside the consumer unit?

Thanks in advance

Wagos are fine but can look a bit messy if there are a lot of them, LINE products do an inline splice push in connector that can look neater.

Do not join different earths together, I had a nightmare testing only to find the earths from two different rings were linked in a wago down the back of the MCBs then split back to the earth bar.
Crimps can be more secure.

thumbs up for the line products connector as so well described by richard. they're the dog's goolies for just this kind of application.

They are ok but i'm not totally convinced. I bought a box and have use them a few times. They grip really well from a "pulling" force but are free to rotate in the connector in a rather "loose" disconcerting way.
i would rather use an adaptable with din rail connectors or proper crimps and heatshrink personally

i can vouch for the line products in line connectors. brilliant. some on here would argue that crimps should only be used on stranded cable, not solid core, so there's another argument.

You're never going to achieve a better permanent joint than with a crimped ferrule and heat shrink insulated. Ok, maybe equally, with a well soldered joint, but certainly not with any form of mechanical connectors....

I like wago's by the way, they have many uses, but i don't like to see them, connector blocks, or any other type of mechanical connectors within a DB/CU. If nothing else it always looks as if a DIY'er has had his grubby hands them....
