Hi people, I've got a job to do at work which involves moving and upgrading a CU and moving a Alarm panal in a domestic property. Ive changed CU's before but never had to move the actual position of the CU. I was going to just either use normal junction boxes to extend the cablesbut then in the loft (bungalow) there would be around 10 junction boxes which I don't really want.

1. Is there such thing as say a bigger junction box which could in corporate all the cables in a nice neat enclosure?

2. How would people reccomend that i extend the Alarm panel cables. 6 core alarm cable it is. I had a look inside of the panal and there looks to be a good 20-30 cables for zones and keypads etc.

In an ideal world there would be a enclosure which I could fix to the beams above the existing installations ( cu and Alarm panel) and then then new cables could shoot out of the side and then be connected up happy days.

Thanks guys :)

Wago's are brill upto 6mm....!!!

i recently did a box move and all new circuits were extended in singles connected into wago's grouped together with velcro straps for ease etc.... i.e lights L-N-E (strap) sockets LL-NN-EE(strap) etc...

all enclosed in a plastic box from wholesaler similar to this 240 x 190 x 90mm IP56 Moulded Box

and they went off to the CU in 38x38mm trunking!! looks neat and tidy!

will post some pics if i get a chance!!

Wago do large enclosures with a din rail for their fittings to extend conductors. Have used them to move units and do a nice tidy job.

large adaptable box, dinrail, as for alarm cables do you mean 20-30 x6 core? in affect 120-180 cables?

Heres the pic of the Burglar alarm. Not as many as I pictured in my head. I've never worked with a alarm before but if im only extending and reconnecting it can't be that hard can it.

If i was to isolate it completley would i just have to remove the feed and pull out the battery?

BTW its a Ademco Microtech Galaxy 18 CO51.

You need jelly crimps in an enclosure to extend alarm cables.

However you will need an alarm engineer to put the panel into engineer mode and then restore it.
