Hello guys,
Wired in an extractor fan for a customer last month, and have just had the phone call saying its not working, and never has.
Its a humidity one, so couldn't test it after I connected it up, as the rest of the bathroom was still in bits. The customer wanted it wiring so that he had control over it. and not for it to be linked with the lights etc. So I wired it up in t+e, from a celing rose to a fan isolator, and t+e to the fan.
I'm going round tomorrow to have a look at it, but am wondering does the phase of the t+e get connected into the SL,or L if you just want it controlled by the isolator.
And can anyone confirm that you don't have to have a permanent live and a switch live, if you only want it to operate after switching it on via the isolator.

many thanks

I'd check the installation instructions to see what they say.

With humidstat fans you may need to go back and adjust them because the humidstat sensor may take a few days to "acclimitise".

Again, the instructions will help, or a call to the manufacturer.

Have fun.

no just connect in to the live side of it and nothing it to the s/l side but you need to adjust humidstat sensor so it cut in when it picks up steam make sure the humidstat sensor is not facing the wall if ceiling mounted try turning the shower on to get the steam build up and the adjust the humidstat sensor so it cuts in the wait for it to go of and bingo job done

i have had this before. when not using the overrun timer, ther fan will only work off a switch if you connect the L to S/L in the fan. first time i had this, i phoned manufacturers tech. help and that is what they told me and it worked. may not be the same for humidistat, but try it.

belive me fitted 100o of them they all have a S/L terminal jcut made like it but you only need to connect to the live supply NOT THE S/L one so the humidistat has a perment feed ad then the humidistat is your switch

as mentioned by Westward a link is the way forward, nothing wrong with that and the pull cord will then be the on off switch.
