Socket circuit has a 3 gang 13A fused socket on it with a washing machine and dishwasher plugged in to it, but householder has been told not to use both at the same time. Seems to be that when things get plugged in to the socket, it trips after a short time, but not straight away.

IR and continuity are fine, could it just be the socket which is faulty?

Any help would be appreciated.

also u said u did continuity test, not being funny, but test between line cpc, line neu, neu cpc, if u get con between any then u know d fault, all things unplugged

yeah i think andrews ir test would of proved that.

not always, i had one last week where ir test passed but i was getting line earth continuity, a screw was touching line only but the damp wall was letting current go between line and the earthed metal back box of the socket

i had same fault it was washing machine element when it was on boil wash cold feed creda washer but would only trip if tumble dryer was going as well ...

Found the fault, a socket behind a larder cupboard totally enclosed had an intermittant live/earth fault. Pain in the proverbial but all well and done in the end!

Sorry about the delay in posting the results
