Favourite brand for sockets?

Hi all,

Just interested in what everyone's favourite brand for sockets is with regards to looks and quality.

I prefer the look of MK and find Crabtree easier to connect.

+1 for click mode. The light switches with interchangeable modules just make everything easy.

Had a quick look and it seems to be an alternative to the standard 13A plug and socket. Not sure of the practicalities of this though. What's wrong with just fitting one of the readily available 13A plugs which have a loop to allow them to be pulled out easily?

You'd only need to do it on appliances which are regularly unplugged, eg hoovers etc. Any others can just be switched off.

I can see the appeal of being able to insert and pull out plugs from the wall easily for less baked individuals, but part of the safety features with “standard” sockets is that they grip to give a good contact between socket and plug.

To have them fairly loose could cause arcing, hot points and eventually a fire risk.

How will these fair with the new arc fault detection devices we are now getting pushed to install.

The other issue is of course, cost.
How much are these compared to the bog standard equipment?
And you’d have to change all the plugtops on appliances…. Which then would need an adaptor of some sort for them to be safety tested under portable appliance testing.

LAP for odd jobs like an extra socket in someones house

If I do a full re-wire I will usually fit MK logic plus

The only thing I don't like about click mode is the SFCU they make as they don't have a cord grip. Pain in the backside if you want to come out surface with a flex.

They def do a sfs with flex out
