Not necessarily ferrules can be real small and better chance to heat upYes, also I have never worried about the current carrying capacity of the crimp lug.
A cable is likely to fail beforethe crimp lug.

So the 2.5mm ferrule can only with stand 14A and the 1.5mm 16A so I think you could use them for lighting but not power unless it was LV
