Yes, also I have never worried about the current carrying capacity of the crimp lug.
A cable is likely to fail before the crimp lug.

So the 2.5mm ferrule can only with stand 14A and the 1.5mm 16A so I think you could use them for lighting but not power unless it was LV

Where are you getting that info from? Sounds wrong to me.
