Yes, also I have never worried about the current carrying capacity of the crimp lug.
A cable is likely to fail before the crimp lug.

Not necessarily ferrules can be real small and better chance to heat up

Ferrules are not the same as crimp lugs in America terminology

If you are using fine strand cables you should be using boot lace ferrules In screw clamp terminals.
or ring crimps for screw studs

So the 2.5mm ferrule can only with stand 14A and the 1.5mm 16A so I think you could use them for lighting but not power unless it was LV
