My customer, who has a lot of downlights (12v )throughout the house would like them all changing to mains led. I pulled a couple down to check the connection - JB in place so I could cost accordingly. I have noticed that all fittings including ones with habitable room above are not fire rated.
Am I obliged to change to fire rated? In essence I'm removing transformer and changing lamp holder.

I would always fit fire rated, even when I'm not obliged to. I usually find little or no difference in price between fire rated and non fire rated fittings, so struggle to find justification to use a lesser protected fitting.

I would normally if im fitting from scratch ,but I dont want to incorrectly inform customer that she has to replace whole fitting. If I can use existing fitting and just change lamp holder to gu10 then its cheaper for her.

just replace the lamp holders and lamps. removing the transformers as you go. ssimplesss.
