Hi,
Curious if anyone knew what the exact rules n regs were regarding flexible cables straight into a fuse board. Is it not allowed, or not good practice? just out of interest more that anything.. Cheers

B&Q sell extension reels for 240v with yellow cable................couldn't believe it at first ........I mean yellow is 110v we all know that fgs?

I've got 2 of them now on the shop floor with a blue 240v 3-pin plug on them...........work that one out :innocent:

The Yellow cable that is used in 240V extensions sold in sheds etc is NOT Arctic yellow, there is a world of difference between the two types of cable.

yellow is better for visability in the workplace , hence increased safety factor.

and its the other way round regulations wise - 110 has to be yellow , 240 can be any colour.

hell , you could justify bellwire with a slick lawyer.
;-)

In a construction or other commercial setting all 230V flexible cable for temporary services (meaning extensions etc) must be BLUE, although Black is widely accepted. It is only in domestic that they allow any old colour

and would the blue BS4343 fit into a yellow outlet?

My point exactly mate...................
I have 16amp 240 volt 3-pin commandos.
We needed an extension cable for a specific job and the guy came back from B&Q with this yellow monstrosity.............so to get the job done I stuck a blue 3 pin plug on it !
Well..............it is under my constant supervision just doesn't look right lol
