Evening chaps hope everyone is well,

my firm at the moment are going health and safety mad (more than usual) and as they have just put me through the sssts course there asking (testing) me on some new initiatives that I could try to implement towards working better increasing work keeping moral etc, I've come up with a few regarding a separate near miss register where by who ever promotes the most every 3 months gets a bonus etc, our main client is BP Oil so they are massively in favour of this but I was wondering if anyone has any good Ideas that I could try a snatch :) any feedback is welcome!

no smoking on site...
there, that`l get you the points...

Hi Tommy,

Your idea of giving a bonus to the one who does the most is a good idea, but! You need to also hold them accountable, so if they highlight a near miss (Hazard) what did they do about it. Make them have some sort of accountability or you will have tons of near misses, and no closures of them. If a near miss is reported, then it has to be actioned by some one, and i will guarantee that whoever raises to issue will want nowt to do with fixing it, he is only interested in giving someone else a million things to do so he gets his bonus.

Cheers.........Howard

thanks for the reply mate, sounds silly but they want as many as possible as they think that if we're reporting a certain amount per month then in due course it will reduce any accidents, we have a another initiative which say if you report 30 near misses a month then rectify it while on site then it's classes as chargeable works which of course earns the company money as well as the engineers, but as I'm trying to make a name of myself here I really want to try and put in to place some more suggestions

Glenn someone got the sack last year for smoking next to a dispenser I kid you not lol!!!

Clean safety bonus for teams (areas) who complete the year with a 100% incident free record(bar near miss). (small bonus and could use it as an excuse to do safety spot checks :sunny:.)

Sounds to me like it's making work for people. "OOOOO let's get them really thinking about H&S and reporting stuff that doesn't need to be reported so it looks like we're really great" Ffs the lads will spend so much time on this cack that they'll never get any work done.

Part and parcel of this poxy contract trev, I hate doing this as all my experience on site is everyone hates the h&s but as this is a shyte economy to working in I'm trying to further myself as best as possible and trying to exploit another avenue to keep a half decent job, beggars can't be choosers lol

This one is nasty lol - Preform random checks under the guise - that if you pass random spot check team gets ÂŁX bonus, everyone kept on their toes throughout, do one random check each team each year.
If someone fails they will improve as the teams who won will naturally rub it in.(duncing :D)
