free ELV charging points?

Hi, I have a customer that had asked for a free electric car charging point as another installer is ordering this as there is a government grant at the moment, does anyone have any info on this or where I can obtain the grant?

We have had quite a few of these installed for 1 pence each through Yesss electrical, you can order them through their website.

Its not straight forward. Govt pay out end the month, so you would to fund the installations until then. Also a wireless meter has to fitted again funded by yourself. So over all costly, sockets and meter will set you back over half what the govt pay out plus you time and extra materials on top plus a couple of hours paperwork. Two to three a day you need to make it worth while. The govt don't want the hard sell or 10 sockets in the same street. There are rules to follow. We have installed 3 this week and another 10 to do.

So do you need to be accredited to install these and get the grant?

Yes you need to be OLEV accredited to get the funding or use a OLEV accredited supplier. Is there any installers in your area

Get in touch with a local company and offer it as an extra on all your installs. They'll take care of the whole install and you'll keep customer happy. You may even be able to negotiate a finder's fee.

Where do I find a local installer who can install for free? I assume it's completely free for the householder

Yow will need a EV tester and GSM signal meter added to your tool box if you decide to install yourself.

The Govt are monitoring usage for data. They have to be measure usage for three years. Only criteria to be eligible for free socket

Jason, judging by the new wall, is this not a PME system? If so, are you not installing an earth rod?

What a sensible idea ;-) I've heard on the grapevine that government isn't actually paying out even after 77 days, so you need to have a very robust cashflow in place.
