Garage mini board supplied from an 16A MCB, on an Rcd protected board. Would the fact the board it’s supplied from give the circuits in the garage RCD protection?? I,e. If there was an earth fault on the sockets in the garage would this trip the Rcd back at the board in the house
 
Yes.

In terms of compliance with RCD requirements it's fine although not very convenient in the event of a fault and if the RCD protects multiple circuits you could maybe argue the installation isn't 'divided up' sufficiently although its a common thing to see.
