Hi Guys

I have a slightly unusual one here and would appreciate any advice/comments,

I have a detached house and detached garage, room over garage, both with their own supplies and meters. I belive the original purchaser at new build was going to run a business from over the garage and wanted a seperate supply. This of course means 2 lots of standing charge and high price initial units.

Client wants to link the garage to the house supply.

Both meter boxes currently have a 100A Isolator after the Meter and then tails to the CU's.

The plan is to run a 25mm 3 Core SWA from the house meter box to the garage meter box. In the house meter box I was going to split the supply after the 100A Iso using Henly blocks, and tie in the SWA earth.

At the garage end fit a new 100A Isolator, remove the CU Tails from the existing !00A Isolator and route the incoming SWA thro the new Isolator to the existing CU. Again tieing in the SWA earth to the existing earth.

A couple of further questions, should the SWA cable cores in the boxes be sleeved to blue and yellow/green?

How would you terminate the SWA into the bottom of the Meter box, simple remove the wire armour and innr protection and route up through the bottom enrty opening?

Thanks in advance.

Now we're opening a can of worms...

Depends what diversity is applied tempered by common sense!

House
1 off Cooker 32A
3 off Ring 32A
4 off Lights 6A
1 off Alarm 6A
1 off Water Heater 16A

Garage
2 off Ring 32A
2 off Light 6A

Cable run between House and Garage = 16M
OK, so not likely to take out the one service fuse when combining the load(assuming it IS 100A ... needs checking). The 25mm SWA seems a bit overkill.

Seems like a big supply for a garage, what will it be used for?

Apologies, the SWA will be 16mm, not 25mm

Final question, what are the implications regarding the fitting of the 100 breaker and Henly blocks in the meter box on the house that is being retained in respect of the DNO.

I 'm assuming that the garage end is not a problem because I will ask the DNO to cease the supply to that box.

The meter box is actually your property. As long as you don't interfere with, or compromise their equipment then you should be fine. A quick phone call to them would clear that up (hopefully) :)

Me posh lololololol like it , ive been called a prat a few times but never posh , on the other hand i did play a posh camp soliciator in me and my girl , they said the part was for me lol thanks eh

Why not just put it on a 50A distribution circuit from the house CU? save yourself (your client) the cost of that henley and switch fuse unit. And for 16m surely 10mm swa would then be fine - more saving.

Your plan, athough valid, seems ott for whats required (a garage and 1 room - what's he growing?)
