I have recently gone self employed and already had my first awkard customer.

I have quoted for a fuse board change and on my visit noticed that the gas is not bonded. The customer is happy for me to go ahead and change the fuse board but does not want to pay extra to have the gas bonded.

I am just wondering what my options are? Obviously I want to do the job correctly and bring all earthing up to standard and build a reputation as someone that goes by the book but at the same cant to afford to turn away work.

Haven't tried a DI assessment, in response to richy33333

i need a proof reader.

So how are you dealing with LABC notifications then?

Any jobs I get that require notification I have to do the work though the company I used to work for.

Basically give the job to them, then get paid though them.

They are NIC

Planning to join soon as a deciding which ones best, napit looks like the favourite.

I've kind of come to that conclusion, but also as a company I think I should do it.

Napit isn't just DI it's full scope so I'm leaning with that.

Or just join a stroma for cheapness and to comply with part p.

or wait till the new part p comes out and watch the fall out..

Decisions.........

First of all I would like to explain the 3 different schemes that we have to offer our customers through NAPIT; we have a LEVEL A full scope scheme which is for a qualified electrician who deals with all commercial, industrial and domestic work. The level a register covers you for all re-wires, consumer units, periodic’s, all commercial industrial and domestic work, and you are also able to certify your own work and other peoples work, basically it covers everything from A – Z. We do require 3 qualifications for the level a full scope scheme and these are –
*A formal electrical qualification such as City & Guilds Levels 1 & 2, an NVQ, apprentice etc.
*17th Edition also known as the 2382 (if you hold the 2381 16th edition and this was taken after June 2001 there is a 1day update course that you take to update on the amendments)
*2391 Inspection and Testing (This is not required if you have a 2400 qualification)
However we are still able to join you on our register with just a formal qualification but would ask you gain the 2382 and 2391 within 18months of registering with us.
We do hold courses up at our offices, if this is of any interest to you then please do not hesitate to contact me for more information.
