Discuss gas earth bond in the UK Electrical Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

Why was EDF there in the first place?
Why was he testing the earth bonding (albeit with the wrong instrument)?
Is the installation earthed?
What type of eathing system is it?
What tests have you carried out?
What are you trying to do?
Is this connected to your question in another thread?

Most of these answers are in this thread.

Well it would be nice if the OP would answer them, because I haven't seen satisfactory answers to any questions so far? Especially my last two.! It has all the makings of another heated discussion between peeps trying to help, and the OP disappearing without trace!

but come on Allan...the roles each play havn`t changed with time ...have they....

If you'd asked me that in my apprenticeship 40 year ago I would have said you were talking rubbish.................we were taught to 'earth bond' and at that age we didn't query it.
I was working underground mate............7 mile under the north sea..............everything was extraneous and wet lol.
We ensured there was a good earth on all the equipment by bonding everything...............hence the term 'earth bond' :)
Twas ELCB's in them days.

Wasn't until I came to the sunlight that I started to understand the difference between bonding and earthing and it still 'shocks' me how many working sparks don't know the difference to be honest.
