Is it just me or does nobody want to pay for work they have had done!!

Not long been self employed myself but for the last month or 2 i have literally had the customer list from hell!

With being fairly new to self employment , Im not 100 % on what avenues to take or how to properly go about getting my money.

Any helpers?

Put a clause on the bottom of your invoice stating that all materials used are your property until fully paid for! An if they don't pay tell them your going to take it all out and not as nicely as you put it in

Regarding rewires and first fix second fix payments .ive been shafted a couple of times by taking 50% after first fix only to find i dont hear from them again cause they get somebody to put the switches and sockets on for a say a hundred quid and rubbishing the previous leccy (me).think that youve done all the graft and put all that cable into the job .best take 80% after 1st fix and you know they'll call you back to finish the job

Pick the smallest, weakest, and most elderly of them all and beat them to a soggy pulp as a warning to the rest of them!

Maybe drive around with the decomposing body strapped to the front grill of your van, with a sign around their broken neck saying "Non payer".

To much??????????????????

The problem is that you can get a win in the court and if they don;t pay up then, they get a CCJ and most scum aren't bothered about this either.

Non payers are SCUM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Its a real pain, plus if they dont pay you can,t remove the kit you fitted as it,s classed as criminal damage! Unless you can restore everything to the exact state it was in before you started work.So the guy doesn,t pay up and after removing the equipment he hasn.t paid for you then end up redecorating half his house.
