Discuss Good Morning Thread - Come say good morning, tell us what you've got on today. :) in the The Electrical Exchange area at ElectriciansForums.net

We have this thread on TilersForums.com and it's just been restarted because the old thread had 20,000 replies and 500,000 views. And there were 700 pages. Started to lag a bit on slow connections.

I think we had a bash of this before, but I can't find the thread, so thought I'd start another one off.

If you have time in the mornings, come post in the thread before you head off to work, let us know what you've got on and what the weather is like in your area etc. Anything at all is fine. :)

Posts and likes get counted towards your total stats in this thread.

So GOOOD MORNING PEOPLE - WEATHER IS NICE TODAY IN STOKE. I'M THANKFUL IT'S FRIDAY, HAD A RUBBISH WEEK. THANK GOD IT'S OVER.

Did you ever.get your 1 shilling pay rise? ?

I don't think many people are actually offended by the golliwog character. Just the ones who like to try and be offended for effect I should think.

Just covering my back, @DPG

I’ve just started rewatching Life on Mars and Ashes to Ashes… and being made in 2006, with the language they use to reflect the culture in 1973, when the first series is set….. I don’t think they would even make it nowadays due to the “snowflakes” as they are known as.

Maybe they need to make a new series set in the mid 90’s. Soundtrack would be a belter…. Although Bowie didn’t have many classics at that time.

This morning was tearing into an empty old house ready to start a rewire job. (Not doing it in a day, so don’t ask!)

3 core cables with red, white and blue conductors… no cpc in the lighting and very old newspapers under the carpet.

Although I think mr Perry of East Sussex now regrets the last few lines of his letter!

1982…. And when I get to the other corner of the room, I can see a local publication from 1968!
When we had proper wiring colours!

Red, white, blue, black and green...

None of this modern(ish) yellow and green/yellow stuff.

Next thing you will be telling me we will change to black, black, black; or perhaps grey, grey, grey ; or then again it could be brown, grey, black, or.... well whatever as long as it confuses people!!!

Red, white, blue, black and green that somehow melts off after a few decades and runs down the wall under a socket, ruining the wood chip in magnolia.

I remember saving up Robertson's jam labels to get a free Goliwog badge in the sixties. The factory in Paisley later became the ScottishPower office where I was based for almost 20 years. It has since been demolished and houses built.

There was a Robinson's Jam works in Fairfield/Audenshaw border near Manchester locally known as the "Trough" - I guess they were all over the country, it's closed now and has a car dealership Restaurant and a bit of a retail park now.

It was a local spot for a police speed trap on the main road - I got a nasty talking to once!

I am fairly sure the Paisley factory was originally the head office and the Manchester factory opened latter.
So did you deserve your talking to?

I had a Marina 1800 coupe with twin carbs, I managed to get it up to 84mph, but because of the torsion bar suspension I needed all three lanes of the motorway, bloody hairy when you think back.
I like to tell people about my first car - it was an Avenger - sounds impressive unless you actually know it was a '70s sickly brown Hillman Avenger!!

Driving back from Blackpool, the gearstick came out of the gearbox as I tried to change gear!
