This is a seperate qualification at present now known as 2391-20 or as it used to be known 2400.

In the light of some recent posts regarding skill and experience soon the old qualifications and job acquired skills will mean nothing, and new qualifications that mean nothing will mean everything; contradiction in terms-Well they started it!

is the 2391-20 worth doing?
Yeah, I do not think that the new framework of will make the old ones invalid. If anyting the older qual 2391 is much more of an ask than what is come. It just the exam broken down into achievable sizes I think, I thinkd the present rate of failure is causing the rethink.:helmet:

Yes it is a very good qualification, but what I find amazing that there are very few, if any jobs you see that ask for this qualification.

If you look at it the 2391-10 is perhaps about 60% of this qualification, so your really doing the 2391-10 plus the design side of things, IMO it's an excellent stepping stone onto HNC/HND

Im glad i waited now, i had a feeling they might do something about it because of the low pass rate and lots of companys requiring that you have it

Where did you find this out anyway?

People tend to find they will be asked for 2391 at i/view for no apparent reason other than the fact that the employer has so many people to choose from.

Well if there is substance in this, it's an absolute travesty!!

Just another example of the dumbing down of the qualifications in our industry which only serves to make a mockery of it. I thought the 2391 would remain untouched as the knowledge needed to pass it is essential in the inspection, testing & certification of everyday electrical installations, (particularly PIR's) which at the end of the day IS the most important aspect of an electrical installation as it ensures thte install is safe for the end user.

This mickey mouse QCF nonsense is all about bums on seats and churning out partially qualified installers unfit to cover the range of electrical installations that we encounter daily.

It all seems to fall inline with the new idiot proof EICR.....a tick here & a tick there.....job done. No thought or knowledge seems to be required anymore....just follow the instructions on the box.

This is a very sad day indeed!!!
