Which ever measure you choose to do you have to get accredited and they come and inspect your wwork exactly the same as electrical works or gas safe

They look at 1 of each measure on initial enrolment and after 1st yr they will look at 2 measures of their choice

well and truely still sitting on the fence on this one. How many actual green deal installations have been carried out yet?

So who's nearly off the fence, you will get cramp in that foot!! Lol

well off the fence, sat in the pub across the road having a few pints biding my time until someone actually works out if it's possible to make it work without being a smarmy con merchant about it..

eta - just to be clear, I'm in no way referring to anyone off these boards there, just to me those types are the only ones who seem likely to be able to make this work for them - not for their customers, just for the salesmen & the companies they're working for.

Just heard today about 2 refusals by a utility for Green Deal.

First one because the tenant had a history of low consumption.
Second one because the owner occupier wasn't on gas grid.

Come from a highly reputable source with over 25 years in the energy efficiency industry working for a LA on big CERT/CESP schemes for years. There's a long, long way to go before any of this becomes profitable for anyone other than training providers.

Now that CERT/CESP has gone I would think the utilities need to start making ECO work in order to meet their obligations or they will be fined.

Has any ECO funded work been installed yet?

Yea loads Ecodeal has done 3 boilers as a trial
we are due to do 5 boilers on a trial with our Eco funding provider too

I believe there has been some work carried out but I'm hearing that a number of insulation firms have gone bust because the utilities are hanging on to CERT money they were owed - all sounds very familiar. Of course just because ECO has and will work doesn't mean that Green Deal will.

The insulation companys were going to jobs already done and changing the stickers/paperwork in the lofts and also claiming so most were all it, this has caused the payments to stop and utilities having different companys claiming payment for the same job. they have a massive backlog to try and sort out that is whats delayed the eco/gd schemes.

I'm sure some of that is true but when I was managing a big insulation scheme the utilities were taking 120 days to make payment then. Two of the big installers had £1 million each taken from them for discrepancies with work but they aren't all tarred with the same brush and I worked with them for 14 years and payment was always on the edge of bankruptcy for the installers. The difference this time is that there isn't an active replacement for CERT/CESP and if it takes another 6 months to sort out Green Deal and I think that's optimistic then the insulation industry is unlikely to be able to withstand it imho.

So the greenest govt ever - put solar into intensive care, hasn't given birth to domestic RHI despite prolonged gestation and appears to have signed the death knell for huge swathes of the massive insulation industry. Maybe the meant "green" as in gullible voters .....
