Learning canoeing as a teenager at swimming baths we were praticing rolling over and escaping from canoe, so I rolled and pulled the spraydeck tag which came off in my hand. So I was hanging upside down wondering how to release the spraydeck so I could get out before I drowned when I remembered an earlier of banging on the bottom of canoe and holding hands up for someone to right me, luckily someone did after what seemd an eternity but was probably only a few seconds.

A more recent one was 70mph in outside lane of M40 when this happened...

It was 1987 and i was sent on a special mission in central America to rescue hostage from guerrilla territory and im telling you now the S.H... hit the fan big style.. my team were been picked off one by one, at first i thought it was the enemy but soon realised something beyond our understanding was at work and we were guinea pigs ..the rest is a bit hazy but lost all my team and ended up covered in mud and wrestling some kind of invisible beast.... luckily I kicked butt!

The scary part of that pic is something has hit the side wall you have 2 puncture holes that led to the blowout either you were taking 2 bullets or you hit something that flipped up and punctured the tyre.... CSI Darkwod here again!..... were you in a 30 speeding off from a bank?

Michelin are a quality tyre and the when one blows out it can usually be pushed back together to complete itself ... yours shows 2 distinct holes so either you clipped something or something flew into the tyre?

Nothing as exciting as the previous posts but equally life threatening. Coming home drunk close to midnight after promising to be in from work at 6. On hands and knees silently clattering up the stairs only to be greeted suddenly by a back lit missus at the top in nightie, hair net & curlers with furry slippers. She's a big girl and makes Nora Batty seem like an angel .....

The damage investigator people kept ringing me when they found new damage, they were impressed that I managed to write a car off at less than 30mph. Cracked 2 alloy wheels

Oh.....I almost forgot the first memory of a proper close shave (if we dismiss the usual childhood falling out of trees stuff..) Those above a certain age will remember the Hungerford Massacre, well he started his shooting spree at a garage. I was still a teenager, and out with the family on some day out somewhere and we transited through Hungerford, and the cctv from the garage showed him pulling in, just as our car pulled off!

I was named after Michael Ryan. My parents could not decide on a name for me and it was the day before they run out of time to choose one that my dad was reading the newspaper article on the massacre and decided that Ryan would be good. Sorry that it is not thread related but i have had no near death experiences, except a couple cases of man flu

1998 with the family (then) on aeroplane going to canneries, all of a sudden the plane was near on vertical engines reviving bloody loud scared the living day lights out of me!!!.
