[ElectriciansForums.net] Guess the fault(s)...

:oops::oops::oops:

You sure? Don't look quite level to me.
drunk camera?

anyway, it's perfectly obvious. fitting has been removed to make the pointing behind match up to the rest of the bodge. oh, and sleeve that yellow with some earth sleeving. there's a bit spare on the stripping wire.

Ha ha.

The homeowner wasn't in so I just did some basic checking:

so apart from the obvious line and neutral reverse, the line was permanent live, and the yellow was the switched live, causing the rusty parts of the case to become live when on, so my guess is some muppet took off a security light with a manual override!

So if it had had a lamp bulb fitted it would have been on all the time, and when the switch was on, the case was live ! I guess it was still security fitting!

Given the degree of muppetry and f'kwittery that has gone on here, I can't understand why they didn't also snip the cpc off right at the end of the cable. Small mercies, eh?

Because they had no snips, it's hard to use a trowel to chop cables and double up as a screwdriver.

Ah, fair enough. I was assuming they'd just use their teeth. Must not've had any left.

I had a client a couple of years back that thought the L2 on a two way light switch was where the CPC went.....he was a 'proper' engineer allegedly....

As someone who now works in security I would say that this is the perfect security light. Turn it on and not only can you see what you are doing, but you get to see the shocking sight of anyone dumb enough to try nicking the lamp (bulb):nopity:
