Hager CUs seem to be well respected on the forum. I have not used one before (usually use what the wholesaler has on offer). Asked about a hager and been offered the hager vc766h1 with 10 breakers for ÂŁ85. I can get a BG or volex a little cheaper, would others recommend sticking to the hager. The removeable bar appears to make installation easier.

I have used Hager for a couple of years now - I previously fitted MK but shelved them due to build quality issues

I like Hager and from a business point of view they make sense. Try getting a Hager MCB from the orange shed or Screwfix- Hager only sell through the wholesale network.
The quality is also very good- far better than MK, or Wylex
From what I gather the MK ones are made in the same place as the BG ones (the insides look almost identical- such as the linking cables)

From a business point of view using Hager means I get more call backs to additons, so it makes more work for me

I'm not familiar with the exact CU you mention but I like Hager products in general. I would consider them at the higher end of the middle of the road equipment. In my book it would be worth paying a small premium for well thought out products which have a proven track record.

I read somewhere here there was a recall for some Electrium brands, doesn't Volex come under that umbrella?
volex are indeed made by Electrium....fitted a few volex boards and i dont think theres enough room in em for RCBOs.....can be a pain...........

"the MK ones are made in the same place as the MK ones"

I've only experience of old Crabtree metal clad boards with the big (brown) C50 hook on Type 2 &3 breakers plus some later Wylex stuff and the odd standalone garage unit. Been looking though to use an Eaton MEM unit for when I get round to my rewire.......

I'm definitely a Hager man if given the choice. The removable bar has saved my $rse on several occasions, they're good and roomy to work in but without being too big, you can get all kinds modular devices to be able to modify them about if you need to AND they look nice. I grabbed a handful of MK pre-loaded's a while back when a wholesaler was doing a deal on them, and couldn't wait to see the back of them!!
