Just doing a house wire following a partial demolition job. There is now going to be hot water under floor heating. The question is (and I can’t find any pointers in the regs books and guides) do the gas boiler, pump gear and wired thermostats need to be on a common circuit for simultaneous isolation? Its just that the house will have 2 ring final circuits down stairs…..

Thanks in advance for answers

Your wiring centre will have the main supply from your spur, which then feeds all the controls etc and when isolated will shut off the wiring centre.

Take your mains to the boiler via switch fused spur, all external controls will be fed via live (normally 3) switch live (normally 4) and neutral ( normally 5).

One isolator adjacent to boiler will normally sufice, or you could put a triple pole isolator before your wiring centre for local isolation to all your 2 port valves.

The thing I need to find out is, I believe the room stats only need power and transmit signals back to the central control unit wirelessly, some of the room stats will be battery powered e.g. bathroom. This is wher Im confused a little as I was planning on taking a fused supply from the ring direct to power each additional room stat.

Most underfloor heatings are uponor. The uponor radio frequency room stats are wire free. So you need power to juice up the control center, where all actuators are wired into. If you look on uponor website there will be good drawing for this. The switch wire from here then powers valves, pumps and boiler.

The uponor radio frequency stats are installer friendly!

We have done a rake of underfloor heating systems and have never heard of uponer, Nu-heat and Wirsbo are ones we have mainly come across
