We had 3-4 hours to write up all the paperwork (1 week before), write a materials list etc then 8 hours to install from scratch. Hence the nickname "bay in a day".

Yeah mate, we had to do the tower in the car park and pose for photos handing bars up! Also did the ladder one where you had to tie it off then get your photo taken with that as well. I huffed the tutor when I photo bombed someone's safe isolation photo and he didn't realise til later in the week when he looked at the pics on his comp! You got me, well done...5 weeks pmsl
It took longer than 5 weeks just to do the H&S!!!
Question for you lot:- Do colleges still do the practical "erection of ladders" & "mobile tower erection" exam as part of the module's? We had to in the car park back of the building. I've never seen anyone post up that they have to prove they can use a ladder or erect a scaffold????
Good luck for tomorrow.
Secure fixings for the C/U, back boxes, tray etc. They look at everything so double check every termination, nut and bolt. A spirit level and tape measure are your friends, make sure everything is level and at the same height as per the instructions. Plan out stage by stage what you are going to do, may be tonight?
But most of all dont panic. If you come across a problem, get flustered or frustrated just take a few minuets and get your head back into the game. Concentrate on one task at a time and make your install perfect. Good luck again from all of the staff.
Good luck mate!
Theres a few questions on earthing and bonding, make you sure brush up on exposed vs extraneous, what is the function of the main bonding conductor? there was about 5 questions you need to look in the OSG for the answers.. you'll need to find the tables for the multicore PVC current capacities and also the voltage drop tables as it asks for figures from these tables.
I usually blast through answering the ones i definitely know first off and just flag any that I'm unsure of as this way you don't feel like you are running out of time. After this go back and start the flagged up ones, go through them all again slowly when you have finished, checking anything you aren't sure of and make full use of the time til you know its right. Ive seen loads of people rattle through them and be finished in ten minutes but not end up with a very good score!
If you read down the right hand side the conduit has to have a set in it from the trunking to the first saddle, no mention of a bubble set and its not drawn on either. Like you say though what you guys did was harder!
