help needed very quickly,

I have very nearly completed a rewire of a two bed-roomed bungalow, as this was a friend of mine I charged £1400 all in, not a bad price as it took two of us a week (I have been paid already). since I have not been there for the last week the plumber has told the lady that he has spoken to his electrician and I have broken every rule in the regs and has threaten to get an inspector in unless I give £500 cash back tomorrow.
Candie is in the middle so unsure if to believe the plumber or me.
the thing i have done wrong are.
not taken fly leads to the back boxes,
the boxes have not got grommets, this is something I always do but I did not have any on the first fix I was going to do it on second fix but my mate connected the sockets up I totally forgot about it (but is that against the regs?).
there are a few cables close to the surface all in the correct zones I have bonded/ undercoated with plaster, when the finished cote is applied they cables will be fully concealed.
and that is the minimum distance for a socket from a tap.
please be honest with your answers as I will print this off tonight and will be going around tomorrow with it tomorrow.
I have offered to correct the problems (for nothing) but have been told by the plumber that his electrician will do it and finish the work and testing for £500. and he doesnt want me in the house again just the money and the key.
please give your views asap, and what could happen if a inspector did come around to see the problems if I cant cant sort them I am currently with elesca.

Is there capping on cables?
Dont need flying lead from box.
Grommets are just good practice, but not against regs

My first impression is he sounds like a bloody crook to be honest mate. Do not hand over any money to him. Above all else, it's none of his business.

My second impression is to tell him to go ahead and get an inspector in (I'm stubborn like that). If they do find anything wrong, they should give you the opportunity to put things right in the first instance. Don't be bullied by the plumber.

Are you going to cert the yourself ?
50MM is the limit or its got to be protected etc
as for the grommits hmmmmmmm not too sure but i have ben to sites where they dont get used but its good practice to use.

and the rest is as above.

Me thinks this plumber chap has looked at some of ya install and thought it no good so dont worry if your doing the test ya self.

Dont let him bully you mate. The things you've 'done wrong' are far from hanging offences.I can understand you dont want confrontation but stand your ground.

As above and also remember this new electrician cannot certify your work only you can. The best the other one can do is a PIR I believe. I would suggest that you point out to your friend that its odd that this man is using scare tactics. If I have read the post correctly who is he to say he dosent want you back in the house, thats up to the householder not him.

My advice........tell him to call the inspector, if and it's a big if he is actually serious the inspector will have a look and give you the oppurtinity to put things right at no extra cost the the customer, not that theres much wrong from what you have said (grommets thing is a bit ruff).

If the backboxes have at least one fixed lug then there is no actual requirement to flylead (just good practice).

Dont give him any money whatsoever....sounds like a total crook to me.

Deff agree with julianC . this plummer is trying it on , so easy to bad mouth someones work . If you need to put things right you should be given the chance! Maybe a lesson to be learned about quality tho?

fly leads to back boxes not required if one fixed lug (but is good practice to do)

i never leave grommets out, best speak to your scheme to see their take on it

as long as cables are in correct zones can be plastered straight in to wall

300mm from drainer or sink to socket

if you are aprt p registered whats it got to do with the plumber

you are certificating and hopefully activating a warranty

Wet plaster needs capped or protected another way incase of damage during the plastering process.

Dot and dab boarding doesn`t need capping

You could point out to him that the socket plate shouldn't be taken off the wall live anyway. Stand your ground mate - don't let them call the shots.
