Re: help please on testing ground and neutral wire on lighting circuits with a multim

yea going to leave it deff tonight anyway. thinking that these two switches are plastic ones there isnt anywhere to connect the earth to on them i think thats why they just chopped them back.
my local spark offered to test the whole house for me.
he was wanting 36quid plus vat an and hour a 40 quid call out charge and said it would take him 2 days or do it in the day if he brought someone else. ÂŁ750 quid must think im daft..

Where are you living Robert? Kensington Palace?
2 days for an EICR either the place is massive or you're generous with the teapot:)

Re: help please on testing ground and neutral wire on lighting circuits with a multim

wow that is very expensive and two days and two men youve either got a huge palace or he is having you at it!!!! how big is your house?

Re: help please on testing ground and neutral wire on lighting circuits with a multim

ÂŁ750! he's having your pants down good and proper at that price. a thorough EICR should not cost more than ÂŁ250.

Re: help please on testing ground and neutral wire on lighting circuits with a multim

not that big 4 bed just think there plenty rougues that are ready to rip people off that they think dont have a clue.

Re: help please on testing ground and neutral wire on lighting circuits with a multim

shop around you will find a far better deal than that, post you location on here, and sure local guys will look after you.

Re: help please on testing ground and neutral wire on lighting circuits with a multim

Why don't you call a sparky and ask them to come and do a Ze, a Zs on the lighting circuit(s) and a Zs on the socket circuit(s).

Should cost you no more than ÂŁ50.00 (if that)

Doing nothing isn't an option, and please don't take this the wrong way, but it would appear that you lack the skills and necessary equipment to put your mind at rest.

youll get a DICR for betweenÂŁ100 -ÂŁ250 depending on where you live how many circuits ext your mate dont seem much of a mate at that price!!!!! just be safe remember whatever the report says its still upto you who does the work so the tester cant create work for himself as his report will be read by other sparks so you can be sure it should be correct and true!!!

Re: help please on testing ground and neutral wire on lighting circuits with a multim

Get a eicr done if you want a ball park figure of what it costs count how many circuits you have and multiply by ÂŁ20 give you an idea of what a full electrical test would cost its yours and your family's life don't forget
