hi everyone. unsure if this is 100% right forum but basically i did a JTL apprenticeship from school.

ive moved house and have just received my replacement certificate that was lost in the move. i seem to need this certificate to do the 17th edition?????

anyway on my cert it says: "level 3 certificate in knowledge of electrical installation engineering"

and it was awarded on: 25/04/2003.

i also have a "gold" jib card with the cscs hologram on it (did that 2 months ago).

basically. i cant seem to find what my current qualification would be down as? it appears city and guilds have chopped and changed courses since i did it!

also would i be eligible for the 1 day 17th course? or do i have to do the 3 day course?

im currently redundant and desperate to get back into work. im applying to everywhere including the likes of british gas but everywhere i look at requires the 17th edition. so im stuck.

any help to spread some ideas on this would be absoloutely amazing guys.

thanks so much for any help

Re: hi guys, i have some confusion with 17th edition courses and my current qualifica

just to update this: after some searching

Candidate Pre-requisites
One of the following qualifications is required
City and Guilds Level 3 Certificate in the Requirements for Electrical Installations BS 7671: June 2001 – 2381
or
City and Guilds Level 3 Certificate in Electrotechnical Technology Installation (Building and Structures) – 2330-07
or
City and Guilds Level 3 Certificate in Electrotechnical Technology Electrical Maintenance 2330-08
or
City and Guilds Level 3 Certificate in Electrical Installation Part Two 2360 (from January 1st 2004 onwards only)
or
City and Guilds Level 3 Certificate in Knowledge of Electrical Installation Engineering (2351) from 1 January 2004 onwards only, and only if achieved as part of an Electrotechnical Advanced Apprenticeship completed post 1 January 2004.

the bold is what i have but i qualified april 2003! that sucks!!

anyway i cant find anywhere to do just an exam, i have some places that do it online? are these legit? but they still say i have to go for an exam somewhere. and i would need portsmouth or nearby due to being on isle of wight

2351 done as part of an Advanced Modern Apprenticeship will enable you to take the 2382-20 update (see City & Guilds guidance). Unfortunately not all of the centres appear to be aware of this and may make you do the 2382-10 full course.

I did 2351 as part of an Apprenticeship but was made to do full 17th Edition course.

oh really?

so having done a proper apprenticeship through jtl im covered then?

i guess the answer is it to ring city and guilds?

edit: so you shouldnt have done the full course? when did you finish your nvq level 3

Finished NVQ about four years ago. Should have been able to do update but City & Guilds hadn't updated guidance at that time for 2351 I don't think so was made to do full 17th course.
