Im not familiar with Hive heating systems; although I am aware that somewhere along the line (probably at the start, and not the control box thing that plugs into socket!) it needs a mains supply . Anyone know if the Hive circuit is switched off, would this cause the boiler the revert to its manual settings (obviously the circuit supplying the boiler is not supplying the Hive).
Thanks

Yep I know its a bit ambiguous a question, but in a nutshell, if the power to the hive is switched off (not the control box thingy thats plugged into wall), can/does the boiler revert to its usual settings (i.e timed/manual/on/off).

The hive replaces the programmer and roomstat, so no it won’t revert to any other settings. Switching power to the hive off will also mean switching off power to the boiler as they are fed from the same sfcu

Ok so today I disconnected an immersion from an ancient FCU. Customer says he dont need immersion connecting up again, he never uses it cause the boiler provides the hot water. Fine I think, so i blank off the FCU. I check the immersion is on its own circuit like it should be, and it appears it is; the boiler is not connected to the immersion circuit, and nothing else by the looks of it, so i switch off the circuit at the fuse/cb.

Couple of hours later I get a call saying the hive system is no longer controlling the heating like it did, and the boiler settings have gone to manual (he can operate the heating manually).

So im thinking that the hive may be connected to the immersion circuit, and because I switched it off (off at the fuse), it has caused the boiler to revert to manual settings or resetted the hive system.

if the e/heater on own circuit, and you disconnected it why would the hive go nuts .unless you F88k up.

Yeh I admit if the hive is on the immersion its my f88k up, but hey nothings perfect and it certainly wasnt before I got there. What i wanted to discern is (as in post #1 and #3) is if the hive is switched off does the boiler revert to manual settings. Jeez why all the negativity, take a chill pill !
