Always slice across then down and peel back. Was taught that way during my apprenticeship back in the 80's, and it's stuck with me.
That said, I don't have a problem with the cheese wire method, it's just that I was programmed the other way.

Cheese wire for anything up to about 6mm, but can depend on what the sheath is. Prysmian and you're fine, some other stuff can be tough as old boots!

As above, cut across, then down the line of the cpc and peel all the cores out together.

If there's good access and not too long a strip length, then one of these CK automatic strippers does both sheath and cores:
C.K Automatic Wire Stripper - 495001

Never mind a knife, proper cable is stripped with a FORK! (Or Joistripper/ZSU/etc)

I can honestly say I've put in less than a dozen rolls of T+E since brown & blue came in, just not something I get involved with. But, on those rare occasions, I use a knife.

I wonder whether there is any kind of cable you can strip with a spoon?

Either or, doesn't make much of a difference as far i'm concerned, though it's very rare i come into contact with BS style T&E these day's. Not my favourite cable at the best of times, much prefer the continental round cable.

I'm just surprised no-one has yet waived the joker card of 'it stretches the cpc and changes the csa'.
