Hot tub

TNS supply to house
main db rcd protected
one circuit goes to end of loooong garden (I think SWA) to old re-wirable wylex board
wylex board supplies hot tub
mains water supply to hot tub

Is there a need to TT the hot tub and update the board (RCD etc) or is it OK with the exported earth as it is RCD protected.

Sorry for the sketchy details, but this is a query from a sort of friend at the wholesalers today

The manuf will often stipulate a rod be used (otherwise not strictly necessary). Check the inst instructions if you can get hold of a copy for the tub. If the dist circuit itself is RCD protected then that s/b fine.

Depends, ...is the hot tub sitting on bare grass /ground or on wooden decking/paving??

All the hot tubs i've come across have intergal RCD protection, but if the tub's sitting on bare grass or ground i'd probably put a stake in to equalise the potential of the true ground. If not then no i wouldn't put a stake in....
