Moderators, Please. It's really not helping people to have a suggested link starred out. Why do you do this?

Re: How are we supposed to talk products, tools and help people if we can't post link

Yes, but TLC's website is less simple to get to a search box. Clicking a link is always so much more convenient :)

Why not approach TLC & Screwfix and see if they will pay a referrer fee, if a customer comes from the forum and makes a purchase as a result?

no point in screwfix putting ads on this forum its not as if they need to advitise is it the 30,744 members already know about them

In all honestly members of this great forum, how many rules are we bound by?

No swearing.
No disrespecting other members.
And 2 links can't be connected.

What is some peoples problem? Is it because it will take a little bit more time to find a certain page of another web site all because you don't have a direct link?

All this is a little bit silly and if anyone has a band link that they want to share ask other members to pm them for it........Oh is that my post being moderated? (by myself) Good, it keeps this forum the best place to talk to other people in the trade at all levels. This isn't taking away my freedom of speech, its applying etiquette of conduct for 30,000+ members that we all should be proud of.

I don't see what all the fuss is about????? I am a member on this forum and in all fairness it is invaluable to me for advice and chats yet costs me nothing. Personally I don't feel anyone here is in a position to complain about how the forum is run and what is and isn't allowed. I have sold stuff on here with no fees, I even offered to donate some money to the running cost at one point when I sold quite a few items on here which I was told would not be necessary and politely declined by Dan.

If the people running the forum choose to block links then, good for them. It is their job to find ways to generate revenue to run a site which must have a very large amount of bandwidth and webspace used every month, therefore costing quite a bit. Yet I still get no bill to stay a member.

I am also a member on a fighting forum which costs me around $60 per year to use. This goes towards the running costs so I do feel I could be a little bit more vocal in how it is run.

This isn't a dig aimed at anyone on here in particular but I really think the service from this forum is second to none.

Iv just noticed meteors link has gone from the side I Hope this isnt as a result of this thread

Re: How are we supposed to talk products, tools and help people if we can't post link

Who cares?

I would suggest this forum is just fine how it is. Ive never looked at the screwfix forum, and its unlikely I ever will.

Re: How are we supposed to talk products, tools and help people if we can't post link

So why are there so many more links made to screwfix and TLC as apposed to meteor?. Not trying to tread on toes.

Sssshhh. First rule of fight club, you don't talk about screwfix.

Second rule of fight club, you don't talk about tlc.

Sorry I thought I was on movielovers.com forum ;).

Re: How are we supposed to talk products, tools and help people if we can't post link

Guys, sorry to intrude!

I have kept quiet on this one, but its getting stupid and argumentative, as Dan always says, its our forum, our content, our voice.......But do we pay for it, contribute to its upkeep, spend hours maintaining it....... NO we dont.

Everybody knows that we need the sponsors to keep our precious forum, so debating this is absolutely poinless, and lets face it it makes as little as no difference to ANY of us! if we cant go and find a product on the Screws**t or TLC site ourselves then we shouldnt be messing with electrickery!

I will contine to use these as i see fit and when its convenient, i also fully support and participate in the use of the forum sponsors! this decision will not change the way i buy.

But if it keeps my beloved forum here and free then all the better !

Sorry to vent but can we all put toys back in prams and get over this completely insignificant point!

100% agree with you on this subject, its a great forum, the best out there with some really good people on it,why change a winning recipe, leave as is

makes me laugh.....

I used to come here and type about my worrys with me looming 2391, now I come here to type about my depression.

Re: How are we supposed to talk products, tools and help people if we can't post link

I have no complaints whatsoever about Screwfix. I have used them in the past and am always impressed that my order arrives next day and is usually free. I have also had very good service from them when things have gone wrong and required exchange/return.

However I have also recently used Meteor which in all honesty, if they hadn't sponsored this site I would have never found them online. Again I found them to be very good to buy from. I also recently used test-meter who I had never used before (the 5% discount was very nice)

I just feel it is up to the forum owners to choose who they link to and we have no room whatsoever for complaint.
