How long does it take you?

Hi guys,

I know that it may be a little hard to give correct information but I'm interested in knowing how long it takes peps to do your job:

PIR's EIC's first fix rewires (will need to state details on the extent of the rewire prob)

EIC's I give a 8hrs to but can get it done in less on occations doing full tests but only R2's to the light switches from the rose after R1+R2 at the rose.

I rarely get a PIR done inside 3hrs on a anything larger than a 3 bed house with only one DB. Usually 6-7 circuits including 2 rings.

Do you do the full figure of 8 ring tests or do you cut corners? you can PM me those if you don't want to say.

I hear that other sparks get things done in 2hrs or less but I would like to know from you guys what the real info is?

Spot on, there are so many variables, especially on PIR's.

Also, (jjjinx) if you look at Guidance Note 3 3.10.2 circumstances are given where ring circuit continuity tests may not be necessary.

My main priority is to do it right. same with wiring sockets some people say 10 mins i dont care as long as the job is done right.

I allow all day and price accordingly for a PIR. It takes as long as it takes, and i don't do any repairs. I test and Inspect ONLY. I can see the raised eyebrows now, but, when my van goes for its MOT it gets tested and Inspected, and nothing more, no matter how dangerous it may be, unless i pay for the extra work to be carried out. So why should i adopt a different attitude, and feel duty bound to work for free.

I would do the small make good eg disconnected earth in metal face plate but nothing major

Cant speak for UK m8 but if im been asked to do a check i do a check and price for that if i find no bonding present i will advise but i aint quoted for remedial work.....unless its a little old lady with kettle on and home made cakes of course. Now thats a different story.

A PIR is a report on an existing installation, nothing else.

Since when have we had to upgrade bonding free of charge? No pay no do, simple as. I am there to test, inspect, and reccommend, no more no less.
