[ElectriciansForums.net] how to deal with a callout

I always answer the phone
I had a call out last week and I don't like call outs - I prefer to work during the week only
If I really don't want a call out I will charge £70 for the first hour PLUS £70 for the call out
My calls are recorded an I take the payment over the phone (I do not record the payment details due to PCI compliance rules, but I record them agreeing to the call out, acknowledging the call is an emergency and them waiving the right to a 14 day cooling off period)

Saying that I do always try and help over the phone at no cost before I go out.

Learned the hard way- 90% of out of hours call cancel when they find the item plugged in (despite them assuring on the phone that they have unplugged everything) when you are on the way.
