O

Octopus

Customer is having an extension. In the extension, wet under floor heating to 3 zones is being installed.

The GSR says he wants a plug adjacent to the manifold .......... and he will plug the manifold etc into that.

This means the boiler will have 2 supplies..........

Do you.....

Some GSR are arrogant, id raise my concerns with the GSR, and customer. At the end of the day if hes connecting it its his problem.

The heating controls should be on the same circuit however if hes intending using a different circuit for the UFH and manifold zone valves he could use the trigger wires from the valves to operate a relay that pulls in the heating control circuit that way the boiler is only controlled by one circuit, and the manifold is a completely seperate.

Does a GSR have the technical ability to do this ? If he doesnt want to listen to advise maybe he does, maybe hes going to do it through a RF relay.

Much easier to keep it on same circuit IMO.

Are you sure you two are not at cross purposes, and he wants a socket instead of FCU, and he assumes you'll just feed it from the wiring centre.

I sense your being a bit touchy of late Murdoch? Perhaps another holiday in the States will calm your nerves :)

There’s not enough information in the OP.
What type of output is there from the underfloor heating controls to signal the boiler?
If it is just a pair of volt free contacts/relay output as most seem to be these days then the underfloor heating system can be fed from a separate supply with just a L & S/L link to the heating controls.

Well, i have just wired 7 manifolds, using in effect 7 individual supplies. The GSHP and circulation pump also have individual supplies, so thats 11 different supplies if i count them all up including TP and SP supply for GSHP and FSU supply for controller... lol
Put that in your pipe and smoke it..... ha ha
having said that there is no direct electrical interconnections as such as they are on a comms bus.
