I am about 3/4 the way through a trailer build all stick welded, and now I am attaching lash points etc I bought a well known diy brand but got 2 x 8mm holes and its knackered I know I can be a bit heavy handed at times but come on 2 holes, so I am looking for what my Granddad used to call blacksmith standard they were bloody dear back in the day so heaven knows what they will be now but advice is welcome

Any decent brand will do, not Erbauer or Titan etc.

A good drill speed, not too fast with a decent amount of pressure and most importantly some lube on the bit. Keep it cool and just munch your way through.

Combi drill on a slow speed setting works well, if it starts squealing it's got hot and is too late.

Cobalt bits are the best IMHO.
And get "split point" bits if you are not drilling a pilot hole first.

Anyway, you have welding equipment, a workshop/garage I assume, and yet, you don't have one of these?...:p

Go slow and use lube.

This applies to things other than the topic of this thread
regarding your things other..... down in the SE you probably use KY.up here in the barbarian North we use axle grease.
