i dont have 2391

hi there just wondering if anyone can help me with this i dont have 2391 but i was testing through my now ex-employer! are elecsa my only option ive read they dont require 2391 aslong as your competent ! ive just wired an extension where the council sent there electrician at 1st fix and sending out again to check test results when finished i dont mind doing it this way but just thinking easier for future

There are NO legal requirements to have any testing quals to do the work, you have to be competent. YOU don't even need to be a qualified spark (UNFORTUNATELY). You only have to show that you have complied with the various statures, such as EAWR.

Niceic don't require 2391 I've just got my approved contractor and I've not got it nor is there any time I have to get it by. Think napit want it within a year? Could be wrong tho

IMHO anyone who works for themselves should have the 2391........and before you all start....I know you don't have to - it's just my opinion.

Taking the course makes you a better spark - you end up with a greater understanding - and it will help prove your competence if the 'poo' hits the fan.

And you will learn something on the course - even if it's just that you've been doing it wrong all these years - like some of the '30 year sparks' who were on the course with me.

Why look for loopholes to not get it......just go and do it.:yesnod:

What I read was the Niceic was involved with city and guilds in setting up the 2391 for their QS
It was required until the last few years, where it has now been replaced by the requirement to show competency in testing instead
There is an employment advantage with 2391,but only Napit have mention of it for entry, and then it may just be paying lip service to higher standards

I heard that the NICEIC dropped the 2391 as a requirement for their QSs, as so many of them failed....
