Ay up each

I need to earn £1800 p/m as a self-employed Domestic Electric installer, am I lving in a dream world..?!

That is realy said, that our trade has come to this, the question is what can we all do to up the wage, and dont let the client predict what they want to pay us, as all big companies need electrical power and they tell us how much they want to pay us, we need to get on the SOLICITOR TIP yes £200 an Hr, OK say we should as a min be earning £30 per Hr, so that we can the employ E Mates, and get them some real skills.
Agency work, man what is up with them people, they should be pushing up how much we can get from the client as well, if they all started saying its now going to cost you £16 per hr instead of £12.50 we would all be happy.
as with DB installs we all know its about £400 quid why cant other areas be the same say a shower change over £250 with a basic shower, and sockets extra cost £60. a standard rate should be set, it would be good for someone to post a list of rates, that we could all look at and provide customers with the price, if every one got in on it then they would have no choice but to accept the prices. im on one of them mad tips today, its just rates around us are changing for the worst. painters earn the same as us almost.
Was about to post the same....

As I've said before many, many time we no longer "do Domestic" because it's saturated with Domestic Installers charging as little as £5 ph...... YES I DID NOT MAKE THAT UP £5.... OK for cash... but it's the world we're in :(

In Germany there is a price book that is set, so if it says $60 to change a socket thats the price. Painters earn more in my experience and if they quote for a job, generally they will get a wks work from it, unlike electricians that take the same amount of time quoting but will only get a days work from it.

I would love to earn that a month.

Qualified, 2330, NVQ3, 2391, Registered installer... I'm not touching anywhere near 1800...

It's terrible..

Really gets me down sometimes having wife and kids to look after.... I'll never ever get a mortgage.

I think to myself has it all been worth it??? And the answer is no..not really. Only benefits I have is not having boss to answer too, but financially... I may aswell be employed.

stick with it ive only been self employed 2months slow slow but its comming together, 1800 take home is about ave for employed lads can always fall back on that

I assume by being so specific on the amount needed per month, you have worked out your outgoings and living expenses and £1800 is what you are looking at spending per month to sustain a quality lifestyle? Keep in mind that domestic work is never guaranteed to be the same every month and some months you find it harder to earn.[/QUOTE]

£1800 pre tax mate....!
I pay my £850 p.m mortage and £160 poll tax p/m out of that. Good job the wife is working.
Quality of life...? There's quality and there's quality...as long as I have enough to pay the bills and have a couple of quid to spend down the pub for a pint of real ale and a Hamlet and after a long weeks graft. We have never been materialistic.
