Check this put, this wasn't the problem. But found it whilst looking and felt I had to take a photo!

100+ year old house, lady says there is a banging coming from the electrics, I said ok I'll take a look, she said it's above the bathroom ceiling, like a firework going off, a large cracking noise and a flash that you see from the loft hatch.

The house looked over 100 years old inside, looked like the original decor etc, I didn't go up to look at what it was I. The loft as the entry to the loft was via the hatch above the stairs and it would have been sodding dangerous getting I to it, I said it's too risky.

anyway, here's a pic

So what was the point of posting a picture of a circuit that wasn't at fault to try to justify you were too incompetent to get into a domestic loft to sort out a potentially dangerous fault for an OAP?

Shame.

If I had seen the loft I would have found a way of getting up there.
Coming back in an hour or two with a mate and a longer ladder would probably have been my soloution.

Failing that, if the loft hatch is really that impossible to get in to then cut a hole in the ceiling as near to where the banging is coming from.

I never said she was old?? Did I? She was early 40s.

honestly if you had seen the loft you would have said the same.

i won't bother posting things up anymore.

uk, nobody here has seen the situation. i'd not make a negative comment without seeing it. take no notice of the negatives. i'd like to think that you'd be finding a way of gaining access. if it means hiring access equipment , you have to advise the client of the cost and then go from there.
