I'm 19 years old , and paying for my level 3 and doing my 17th edition aswell i have my ecs card and also my drivers license. I have contacted over 40 firms , explaining my hunger to learn and do well. But they don't want to know? and it made me think what does that say about this country's future. If employers are not willing to employ youngsters getting qualified themselves who want to do well and work hard. Those who are willing will work they say , it doesn't seem to matter anymore employers don't seem to care. Britain's lost generation 1 million unemployed youngsters and counting the future doesn't look to good. Thanks for reading , leave any feedback or advice would be much appreciated thank you.

It's not just youngsters looking for work lad, everyone is and the 5 week courses to become a spark don't help.

Not having a pop mate but the world doesn't owe you or me or anyone a living. Stay positive keep applying and get a job that isn't connected stay employed.

Where are you from? Post your details someone might have something.

Good luck

It's tough out there right now. Keep applying and don't give up. Something will happen. Don't give up hope. Make as many connections as pos, go to agencies. You're only a spark when you got experience, tickets alone don't mean s***.

Thanks for the reply lads and i'm doing the year long courses , as for my details ill post them on this thread see if i fet lucky and you are right no one owes me anything and it is very hard and i won't give up trying but it is depressing the way things have turnt out anyway wish you guys the best of luck also

For anyone who may be interested , I live in Dagenham i'm currently doing my 2330 level 3 and 17th edition two nights a week, i have my ecs card full drivers license also. Willing to put in hard hours to get going at any wage just want to learn.
My email adress is [email protected].

It's all about money my friend, there is precious little of it about thanks to irresponsible banks ect ect, firms won't shell out another. £300 a week on wages when then can just squeeze the current workforce, simples
Good luck

This is heartbreaking to read Dus I wish you the best of luck mate, all you can do is just keep plugging away. Rather than ringing or writing try going to see companies and asking if the guys who does the hiring is available for a few minutes to talk, take your certs with you and maybe offer a week or two working free/for expenses to get your foot in the door

Contacting about 500 firms across London is more likely going to get you results, bear in mind that it is also about you contacting them at the right time i.e. when they have just won a new contract that will require them taking on extra help or just applying at the time when they have just had someone from their team leave.

I have heard this week that the South East of England is absolutely crying out for sparks? Can anybody confirm?, that's not far from Dagenham

Thanks for the reply's lads means a lot , llandrillo that's very true mate its a dry time right now employeers would rather lay people off then employ these days , Trev thanks a lot mate i won't give up and I'll certainly give that a go. Dcelectrical i'm not aware of WF ?

Nose down, grit yer teeth. Its a war of attrition I'm afraid.

there are jobs, just less of them and more people looking than before perhaps.

Carry on looking is the best advice. Or stop looking and just look for A job. Once in any job it is 100 times easier to move to another job than compared to having no job, and looking for THE job :)

good luck. Loose the negative thing though people want to see fight and determination not ....negatives.

Thanks for the advice mate, i have been looking for other work also but it is a tough time , and sorry if i did come off negative i am staying positive and won't stop trying :D

wf are an electrical wholesalers there warehouse is a mile long, thats 1600 meters in metric. i would suggest you work out where it is, get yourself down there and have a look around it is where lots of the local tradesmen go to get their materials there is probably a free vending machine in there, get a coffee have a chat with the guy on the trade counter, find an angle and explore it.

Now that is a top tip.

Dus you could make this really work for you, make yourself a sign saying "GIZ A JOB" (or something maybe a bit more appropriate) and sit outside there armed with a shedload of CVs.

I could be wrong, so please correct me if i am...

But surely you don't have to pay for the level 3 if you're only 19? Im pretty sure that even the full time level 3 course is funded by the goverment if under a certain age? Well it used to be anyway.

and finally you need to sort your cv out, i cannot help with this as i left school at 14 to carry hod and plasterboards but i would try your electrical lecturer or someone at ardleigh green could help you out if you asked nicely, as asking nicely and in fact being nice gets you a long way!

its not what is on your cv it is how it is organised and some of it is not gramatically correct also things like being able to sign or speak punjabi might help, have more than than 1 cv, one for big companies 1 for small companies, not with lies on them but some things you dont have to mention example a small company doesnt want to know you have 3 a levels and a big company does not want to know you worked in a cafe
