I'm 19 years old , and paying for my level 3 and doing my 17th edition aswell i have my ecs card and also my drivers license. I have contacted over 40 firms , explaining my hunger to learn and do well. But they don't want to know? and it made me think what does that say about this country's future. If employers are not willing to employ youngsters getting qualified themselves who want to do well and work hard. Those who are willing will work they say , it doesn't seem to matter anymore employers don't seem to care. Britain's lost generation 1 million unemployed youngsters and counting the future doesn't look to good. Thanks for reading , leave any feedback or advice would be much appreciated thank you.

its not what is on your cv it is how it is organised and some of it is not gramatically correct also things like being able to sign or speak punjabi might help, have more than than 1 cv, one for big companies 1 for small companies, not with lies on them but some things you dont have to mention example a small company doesnt want to know you have 3 a levels and a big company does not want to know you worked in a cafe

no but the first thing some of the prospective employers do is look at your social media, it only takes 5 seconds to get your cv thrown in the bin

Hi mate, I was in this same position a few yeas back, all the enthusiasm in the world but no one really wanted to/was in the position to give me a chance, after becoming confident with my work through college and books, and the odd "experience" (working for free) days I got some cards printed and started touting for work. Mainly like for like swaps of faceplates and lights and stuff but eventually I was doing installs that I would have to beg on my hands and knees for part p'ers to sign off for me; and over time I got my part p and now have my own small firm. Last year I decided to go back to college and get qualified for gas and become gas safe I was all enthusiastic again and guess what? exactly the same thing lol, no one wants to help, its like climbing a mountain again and the weird thing is I didn't even see it coming, guess what I'm trying to say is building a career is never easy but it tends to get easier as it goes along and its worth it if you've got the guts to roll with the punches, my advice to anyone starting out is go to uni and become a doctor, as that's what I'd do if I had my time again and knew how hard it was; and I could afford it; which I cant

dont worry about the companies, they get to many cv's. go through your loacal paper calling all the electricians and builders and get some good experience. then you can advertise yourself and get some work in that way. if a permanent job comes along in the mean time then thats great but whilst your doing nothing then nothing will happen and no opportunities will come your way. you need to put yourself out there and meet people in the right circles and things will happen. sods law says that as soon as you start to get busy yourself then a good job will turn up. times are changing and we need to be more resourcefull. even working for nothing to get experience shouldnt be ruled out especially if you are living with parents and can afford to do this. just get yourself out there. good luck and stay positive

I'll certainly keep trying , i have tried to work for free but people still ain't interested and your right it's not what you know it's who you know. I have been applying to all types of jobs to be honest to so i can be in work but even that is proving hard. I'll just keep looking see if i get lucky. Cheers for the feedback lad

I'm glad you got yourself going mate, I have only been looking for about 4 Months but even in this short time i've noticed no one wants to know. I got back around 3 responses from local firms telling me they would take me on and give me some experience , i was happy at this point and thought i would get a break but all 3 firms during my search didn't contact me back which is dis heartening but I'm sure there's work out there just a lot less of it. Thanks for the feedback mate hope something comes along for you as well.
