Im not an electrician

Hi,
I have a 10 meter 2 socket extension. In that socket I have my router plugged in and also a 4 way surge protected extension which I have a printer, laptop, phone and external drive plugged. I am just concerned about the legality and safety of it. Could anyone advise me...

Many thanks....

I think it's more like 25m where the csa of the cable is 2.5mm.
In a new installation there should be no need for extension leads (there's some reg about that but my BRB is over there somewhere and it's late).
But plugging IT equipment into a surge protector extension isn't illegal.

Think he is concerned more about his trailing leads. If the op is concerned about it and also wants to protect his computer just get a quote from a spark to install an extra socket or two.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I have a couple of options.

1) Buy a 10 meter 6 way surge protected extension (Someone mentioned it being illegal plugging IT equipment in)

2) The obvious, get someone to add extra sockets which I can do at a later date..

Reason being is that Im decorating soon but until then I need a short term solution. Im not sure how safe it is to have a 4 way plugged into a 10 meter 2 socket extension....I believe they all use relatively low power and both extensions are 13a fused.....like I said, Im no electrician but need to know what Im doing is safe...

Thanks again...

it's not ideal to have such a set-up, but until you get an extra socket or 2 fitted, as long as you don't go plugging in heavy loads, it's perfectly safe. as said before, your biggest hazard is tripping over it.
