Good evening gentlemen i been asked to put switched fused spur in the airing cupboard for a shower pump the customer says the plumber says just tag it on to the immersion ! What's everybody's take on this ?

No issues with The load aspect nor the discrimination provided by the fuses.
However.
I still wouldn't do it due to page 177 in on-site guide.
H5:
"water heaters fitted to storage vessels in excess of 15 litres..... should be supplied by their own circuit.".
Purely ar*e covering I know. But it's not much more work taking it from the lighting loop in the loft.

Oh I agree. They are just a guide.
But then so is the 17th to be fair.
ie. not mandatory. !!
It's only if things go wrong that it becomes an issue when work has been done contrary to a written down "guide".
Seriously, I've no issues with the engineering of it, and it makes perfect sense. Just saying I'd rather stick to what's written if there's a choice.

I think its down to what you feel comfortable doing and making sure you cover yourself in what ever choice you make. Im with GT1 though I would always try my best to stick to the 'guide' for ease of covering ones behind.

When doing a PIR (EICR) that's what you use to compare against though, so there is a difference ;)
