Great, thanks for the feedback Worcester ! I guess it can be scaled up on commercial, making a lot of sense. So this is bringing solar in direct competition to solar thermal, bringing the question, what's more efficient solar pv or solar thermal ? The obvious benefit is the pv can do both.

I've actually dusted my toolkit off and did my first Immersun install yesterday.

Minor annoyances:
- no top entry for cables
- screws on the cable retainers are a bit too little for my stubby fingers to easily handle
- the button pcb is not pre-fitted (to prevent damage in transit) and the screws/washers to fix it are very fiddly to get in position

Otherwise no real problems and it is an impressively well-built little box.

It didn't pick the heater up on first step through the installation menu but just stepping back and forwards in the menu sorted it.

3 x ImmerSuns, 1 per Phase, powering 4 x 4.5kw three phase immersions panel in prep: (2 high level, 2 low level controlled by the relay) Board still has to be labelled up at this point..

I almost did something like that here at home (8kWp PV and 9 kW 3 ph immersion), but x3 units seemed extravagant. About 9 months ago now Immersun spoke to me about a 3 phase version, but I have not seen anything and I doubt there is a mass market for one. I am still thinking of it, but I have some solar thermal now so enough DHW.

I agree with Ted that it is all a bit fiddly. I have broken off one of the x4 buttons before and had to do some delicate aralditing

Had our first one fail yesterday. Display wouldn't show for some reason.

I'll give them a ring this morning and see how they deal with faulty units.

Advance return/replacement either direct to you or your customer and they ususally bung you ÂŁ50 to change it over....

We've not had a 'faulty' one as such yet, though some of the very early units had a bug in the the display parameters (if forgot the daily total, though running total was correct), system still worked fine.

We always take two to each site, though to this day never had a DOA yet .

See below, ImmerSun and VO4Home installed together... - When we visted (Not our install) No labels, no diagrams no handover pack, SolarEdge 4000-16A conencted via 2,5mm2 to a 32A MCB. We fixed the labelling and put in a double pole 20A breaker that acts as an isolator and cable protection from the henleys in the box behind the ImmerSun, running all the new tails, and installing a new main incoming isolator, this took a long time.. Customer very happy with the fisnished job, as posted elsewhere we weren't going to replace the 2.5mm2 to the inverter foc for him...

Also note I didn't sell him the VO4Home, he had already decided he wanted one installed, I wasn't about to talk ourselves out of a job!

Spoke to V04Home, they said on the single phase unit it was Ok to butt up to it all around, - however there are case srews on the top, so can't butt it up to the ceiling!

Left to right:
Existing Consumer unit (now with a 32A spare way) Henley blocks in adatable box behind ImmerSun, Double Pole 20A Breaker for PV (from Henleys in 25mm tails, to PV conenctions in existing 2.5mm2) V04Home.
Property now running happily at 230V.

Outputs from our system: The ImmerSun tracks the generation very well - It doesn't cut out as I also have a large resistive load heat dump that the relay switches over to when the tank is hot. - I'll switch it off tomorrow and see how quickly the tank gets hot.

I think maybe it can be done with an arrangement of relays but need to think about the wiring ?

Use THWN if it might get wet. These wires are not sunlight (UV) resistant unless marked as such. If it was for mains voltage I gather it wouldn't...
