Was already on my radar Tel. Used to have one like it but disappeared many moons ago. There are 'sparks' out there who'd be looking for the battery compartment

It says phase sequence indicator on the bottom

Thanks... As i said it's too small for me to be able to read on my 10'' screen. Can you make out the manufacturer of the unit as well??

I have a couple of those spinning wheel phase rotation/sequence meters in storage back in the UK. One i'm sure is a Martindale the other i think is a Yank Square D job.

you would be surprised how often these rotating disk type phase rotation testers come up on Ebay & the like....

could not see a reason why they could not still be used....the only thing i would watch for with them is that the rubber leads hadn`t perished....

In an attempt to further the debate as it's now at 15 pages...

I personally feel ambivalent about Electrical Trainee. There are more important things in life to get worked up about! If I had a strong opinion then I'd vent in in the right direction, not repeatedly moaning on an internet forum. Anyhow, negative comments also crop up often about 'Scams'/scheme providers so this example covers both aspects.

So, with the above in mind I thought I'd post the attached picture. I was asked to make this safe today. It's a new CU that was fitted 4/5 months ago by an indentured/apprenticed 'electrician'. The sort of guy that many on this forum go on about often enough - you know, a sparky, man and boy. Wears a boiler suit, smokes a pipe, screwdrivers are rusty and kept in a bucket. You get the picture, what's known on here as a proper 'spark'. Well this guy clearly doesn't carry any blanking plates to make the CU safe, nor could he sticker the CU properly or secure those cables. This unit is in a public area open 24/7 to the public, a hall the serves public toilets and the cupboard is not locked (not that's justification for not making the board safe). The certificate never materialised either - the building committee have reservations that any testing was done - two of the members are FIET, so know a little about electrical work. When asked about his insurance, the 'proper sparky' confirmed he didn't have any. I can't help thinking that at least if Scam/JIB membership was compulsory things like this might happen less as everyone would have to be checked/monitored somehow?

Haven't worked out why such a large board was required. There were only 6 circuits with 1 or 2 spare MCB's fitted. I guess it's what was on the van, else on offer at the wholesalers?

So even poor 'proper electricains' exist?!
