Sorry Mike #2. Not a chance I can get you on this site. It is a Government building and one of the floors is the head regional department for the HSE!! I now understand why they asked for everyone's certs/qualifications before allowing them on site.

I'm a suby on this job over the next 3 weeks but the MD Electrician, the other 8 sparks myself and 2 people under me know what this means if any little bit goes wrong. We are all giving it 100%. Scheme assessment is nothing compared to this job

Mike sorry mate but there is no chance I can swing this for you. Shame really, this is the kind of experience that you and others need. The amount of checks I've had to go through just to get into this building is unreal!!!!!

Mike there will be another site that I can get you on, just not this one. Sorry bud, make it up to you in the long term.

Your silver tongue stopped working I see?
Not a problem, really appreciate the effort you went through to try get me on this site for experience, isn't your fault
In other news I got my certificate through for this year all passed, got a picture on my phone and just going out to get a matching frame for it to go up next to my driving certificate. Roll on September :D

Have had a little nosey round some of the big industrial jobs I've been on at work and it was a whole new world to me from doing the 2365! Substations I find the most interesting and I love working on them. Going to one tomorrow down south for 4 days I get to experience exothermic welds for the first time got about 200m of 40x4 copper tape in the van weighs an absolute tonne!!

Update!

We were providing the earthing/lightning protection for a new backup generator site (16mW capacity, 8x 2mW generators) next to a power station. We installed a full ring tape around the building in 40x4 copper tape taking 25x3 copper tails off to various things such as the steelwork of the building and fences etc. Did the final tests this morning (fall of potential method) readings were around 0.2 ohms!

I hate the big tape. Never worked with it before but at around 45kg a coil it certainly gives you a work out getting it in trenches, rolling it out and trying to shove it through ducting.
